Senior SAN / Storage Engineer

Must be able to be on site at customer location in financial district in NYC. will start at 2-3 days and eventually be all 5 days on site.
Duration: 9+ Months

9-14 Years of Experience. • Responsible for managing the day-to-day administration for SAN and storage environments, including:
o Collaborate with Customer’s storage support teams
have in depth understanding of Hitachi storage frames from G1500 thorugh new 5600 series.
o Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the assigned task(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
o Support the design, operation, workflow and issue resolution for the storage infrastructure
o Help maintain systems level maintenance for storage infrastructure
o Responsible for tracking existing storage usage trending and capacity planning for future growth
o Maintain storage documentation, procedures and reporting
o Provide Storage Area Network Configuration and Administration
o Storage Allocations to server infrastructure
• Manage infrastructure events
o Capacity Management
o Monitor storage subsystem and SAN switch capacity
o Perform capacity analysis; analyze performance data and trends
o Responsible for tracking existing storage usage trending and capacity planning for future growth
• Problem resolution
o Problem diagnosis, resolution, and documentation
o Perform Incident resolution
• Investigate and diagnose raised problem(s) or problem records for root cause analysis
o Perform necessary storage infrastructure maintenance in accordance with best practices and Company change management policies
o Perform host-level tasks as requested to access new storage
o Interface with assigned Hitachi Data Systems storage engineers to manage the implementation of all additional storage infrastructure and storage services
• Execution of migrations
o Includes understanding of RAIDCOM and other internal system commands
o Understand REST API
o some scripting experience a plus.
• Executing migrations.
• Working knowledge of operating systems like Windows, Linux and Unix (AIX, Solaris and HP/UX) and common multipath platforms
